Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton primary results
Lehigh and Northampton counties have certified the votes, including those for write-in candidates, from the May 20 primary, making the totals official. Here are the results from the Lehigh Valley city contests. Winners, who will run in the November election, are highlighted in boldface.
Ed Zucal, who lost the Allentown Democratic primary to Mayor Matt Tuerk, gained enough write-in votes in the Republican primary to get on the November ballot, setting up a rematch with Tuerk.
Allentown City Councilman Daryl Hendricks, who finished fifth in the Democratic primary for four spots on the November ballot, tallied 95 write-in votes in the Republican primary. However, that total was five votes short of the 100 needed to get on the November ballot as a Republican.
