Jenna M. Fliszar seeks new judicial seat in Lehigh County
Jenna M. Fliszar, an attorney with more than 14 years of experience in criminal defense, child advocacy and municipal law, announced her candidacy for judge in the Lehigh County Court.
“I am running for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas because I believe in upholding the principles of fairness, integrity, and justice that form the foundation of our legal system,” Fliszar said in a press release.
Fliszar, a Republican, will cross-file in the May 20 primary.
Lehigh County has 10 common pleas judges and three senior judges. Fliszar is seeking a new judicial seat that is being created to handle a caseload that has increased greatly since 2004 – the last time a judge was added to the bench.
Fliszar, 40, owns a law firm in Lower Macungie Township that specializes in criminal defense. In that capacity, she served as co-counsel with Gavin Holihan, now the Lehigh County district attorney, in defending South Whitehall Police Officer Jonathan Roselle, who in 2020 was acquitted in a police-involved shooting outside of Dorney Park.
She serves as court-appointed counsel in dependency cases in Lehigh County, representing both children and parents in cases involving Children and Youth Services. She has served as a court-appointed guardian for children in the foster care system.
Fliszar also serves as assistant city solicitor for the City of Bethlehem.
“These experiences have shaped my deep respect for the rule of law and my commitment to fairness, compassion, and integrity. As judge, I will bring this dedication to every decision, ensuring the needs and rights of all who come before the court are respected.”
Fliszar is president-elect of the Bar Association of Lehigh County and serves on the board of directors for Lehigh Valley Pretrial Services.
Fliszar graduated from Freedom High School, Alvernia University and Rutgers University School of Law-Camden.
