League of Women Voters expands Vote411 to Northampton County
With the April 23 primary election fast approaching, the League of Women Voters announces that it has expanded its election website Vote411.org to include information for Northampton County voters.
VOTE411 is a "one-stop-shop" for election-related information that was launched by the League of Women Voters Education Foundation in 2006. Lehigh County has been part of the nationwide website for several years.
Mary Erdman, president of the League of Women Voters - Lehigh County, said the League was able to expand VOTE411 to Northampton because it found an administrator to manage the website. It now has one administrator devoted to Lehigh and one to Northampton.
The nonpartisan website provides national, state and local information on the electoral process, including information on how to register to vote, election dates and polling place locations. Website visitors can plug in their address to call up information about individual races on their ballot.
In addition, it lists candidates along with answers they have given on issues. The League uses candidate-provided information to compile The Morning Call Voters Guide, which is produced for the primary and general elections. While the League said it reaches out to all candidates, not all provide responses.
In addition to appearing in The Morning Call on April 11, the Voters Guide will be distributed to libraries, senior living facilities, community centers, charities, food banks and religious organizations, among other places. It also will be available on the League’s website.
