Lehigh County to begin mailing out ballots on Monday
Drop boxes will be available starting Oct. 24.
Lehigh County expects to begin sending out mail-in ballots to voters who have requested them on Oct. 10, according to Tim Benyo, the county’s chief election official.
Also, next week, residents of Lehigh County who are eligible to vote can come to the Lehigh County Elections Office, register to vote if they have not already done so, fill out a ballot application, vote on a paper ballot and turn it in all in the same visit, Benyo confirmed.
Registered voters who have already applied for a mail-in ballot are not eligible to fill out a ballot in person. They must wait to receive their ballot in the mail.
Drop boxes for mail-in ballots will be located in five places and will be available for voters on Oct. 24.
In addition, voters can also return ballots by mailing them in. Outer return envelopes have pre-paid postage. Ballots also can be handed in at the voter registration office at 17 South 7th St. Allentown.
Mail-in ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Nov. 8 – election day.

Mail-in ballots criteria
The ballot must be sealed inside the secrecy envelope. The voter must sign and date the outer return envelope. The ballot must be received by the Election Office by 8 p.m. on Nov. 8
Rules for returning ballots
State law prevents another person from depositing an individual’s ballot into a box, mailing them or hand-delivering them. That is, unless the person returning the ballot is rendering assistance to a disabled voter or emergency absentee voter and has a signed “Certification of Designated Agent” form. A copy of these forms can be downloaded here.
