Pennsylvania has set May 20 as the date for the primary election.
2025 is a municipal election year where voters will be electing county executives, county commissioners, mayors, council members, supervisors, school board members and more. State and county judicial races will also be on the ballot.
Candidates are already lining up, with Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk announcing plans to seek reelection and council member Ed Zucal saying he will challenge him in the Democratic primary. State Rep. Josh Siegel, a Democrat who represents the 22nd House District, is running for Lehigh County executive.
Here is a look at the 2025 election calendar.
Feb.18 – First day to circulate and file nomination petitions
March 11– Last day to circulate and file nomination petitions
March 12 – First day for third-party, other candidates to circulate and file nomination papers
March 18 – Last day to file objections to nomination petitions
March 26 – Last day for withdrawal by candidates who filed nomination petitions
May 5 – Last day to register to vote before the primary
May 13 – Last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot
May 20 – Mail-in and civilian absentee ballots must be received in county election offices by 8:00 p.m.
May 20 – Primary election day, polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
May 27 – Last day for county election offices to receive completed military and overseas absentee ballots; must be submitted for delivery no later than 11:59 p.m.. on May 19
Aug. 1 – Last day for third party, other candidates to circulate and file nomination papers
Aug 8 – Last day to file objections to nomination papers filed by third party, other candidates
Aug. 8 – Last day for withdrawal by candidates nominated by nomination papers
Aug. 11– Last day for withdrawal by candidates nominated at the primary
Oct. 20 – Last day to register to vote before the November election
Oct. 28 – Last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot
Nov. 4 – Last day for county election offices to receive completed mail-in and civilian absentee ballots (8 p.m. deadline)
Nov. 4 – General election day, polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
Nov. 12 – Last day for county election offices to receive completed military and overseas absentee ballots; must be submitted for delivery no later than 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 3
