Will Biden stop in Emmaus Friday?
The president is expected to land at LVIA in the early afternoon.
President Joe Biden is expected to arrive at the Lehigh Valley International Airport around 1:15 p.m. on Friday and will stop by several small businesses in the Allentown area, according to a schedule released by the White House.
The schedule does not say exactly which places the Democrat will visit, but lists those stops as beginning just before 2 p.m. Biden is expected to leave LVIA at 4:25 p.m.
All eyes are on Emmaus Borough as a possible destination. Temporary “no parking” signs have been erected along Main Street and adjoining side streets for the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In another sign that Biden could stop in Emmaus, the East Penn School District, which has three schools in the borough, announced that students will be dismissed early on Friday due to “unforeseen circumstances that will impact our local area.” After-school activities are canceled as well while coaches will let athletes know about sports schedules.
Biden is coming to the Lehigh Valley to make a case for how his economic policies are helping small businesses, communities and families.
In an announcement, the White House said Biden will discuss “how communities across America are coming back thanks to Bidenomics and his Investing in America agenda, which have ushered in a small business boom, created good-paying jobs with rising wages, strengthened local economies, and lowered costs for hardworking families.”
The Lehigh Valley will be the Democrat’s second stop in Pennsylvania in a week, following a visit to Montgomery County for his first campaign speech of 2024. There, on the day before the third anniversary of the Jan. 6 breach of the Capitol, Biden questioned former President Trump’s commitment to democracy.
The two visits underscore the importance of the state and the Lehigh Valley in Biden’s bid for reelection on Nov. 5 – one that, for now, looks likely to be a rematch with Trump.
