Workshop to teach the ropes of running for office
The League of Women Voters of Lehigh County will host its biennial Running for Local Office Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 11 at Cedar Crest College in Allentown.
2025 is a municipal election year where voters will be electing county executives, county commissioners, mayors, council members, supervisors, school board members and more.
Candidates are already lining up, with Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk announcing plans to seek reelection and council member Ed Zucal saying he will challenge him in the Democratic primary.
The workshop, which is aimed at prospective candidates of all political parties, will cover topics such as preparing to be a candidate, working with your political party, running a successful campaign, working with the press and the paperwork necessary to be a candidate. Keynote speaker is state Rep. Mike Schlossberg, D-132.
The cost of the event is $45 (plus a PayPal processing fee), which includes a 100-page resource handbook and a continental breakfast.
The workshop will be held on the third floor of the Tompkins College Center. The college is located at 100 College Drive, just off S. Cedar Crest Boulevard.
